Editor: The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced Medicaid as a critical safety net for millions of Americans across the country.
Currently, more than one in five Americans are covered by Medicaid, including millions of children, older adults, individuals with disabilities and veterans.
Medicaid also provides essential health care services for pregnant women and new mothers, including prenatal services, home visits and postpartum care. Medicaid covers nearly half of all births, underscoring the important role it plays in providing high-quality, affordable health care in our communities.
Medicaid is key to improving maternal health. As we celebrate the moms in our lives, we must continue our efforts to strengthen Medicaid. Critical health services for mothers and children are at stake.
