Washington, D.C. – Medicaid helps millions of Americans every day. It’s there for those who need help the most. And it’s a program that allows us to find innovative health solutions so we can deliver better services, promote high-quality care, and lower costs. A new coalition of more than two dozen national advocacy groups, dozens of state and regional organizations, and grassroots supporters announced the creation of the Modern Medicaid Alliance. The alliance will educate policymakers and the public about the benefits of Medicaid to the American people and highlight how innovative health solutions in Medicaid improve outcomes and lower costs.

“Medicaid is delivering real solutions that improve lives, improve health, and lower costs,” said Mary R. Grealy, President of the Healthcare Leadership Council. “From better coordination of care to prevention and wellness to innovative uses of technology, Medicaid programs are finding more efficient and effective ways to cover and care for beneficiaries.”
The Modern Medicaid Alliance will focus on informing, educating, and engaging policymakers and state leaders around the integrated care and services that are provided through the Medicaid program.
“Millions of Americans – including children, low-income adults, seniors, and other populations – depend on Medicaid for their health,” said Andrew Sperling, Director of Legislative Advocacy at the National Alliance on Mental Illness. “These individuals have compelling stories about how Medicaid has improved their lives and we are honored to take part in a program that delivers long-lasting benefits to beneficiaries.”
“The results are clear: innovative solutions in Medicaid improve health, save lives, deliver greater financial security, and expand insurance coverage to millions of Americans,” said AHIP President and CEO Marilyn Tavenner. “The Modern Medicaid Alliance will share the story of the positive role that Medicaid plays in the health system.”
